“There are many in Kanyakumari”
Nagercoil: The Directorate of Medical education has urged the district administration to take action against the many institutions, including schools of nursing, colleges of nursing and para-medical institutions, which are functioning in different parts of the district without obtaining permission of the State Government.
In a communication to Collector Rajendra Ratinoo, Director of Medical Education S. Vinayagam has directed him to close all the para-medical educational institutions in the district which were functioning without the permission of the State Government.
Mr. Vinayagam has stated that a consumer forum in Kanyakumari district, in its letter dated June 6, 2009, had given a list of institutions in the district that were not approved by the State Government, and urged him to take action.
A district-wise list of schools of nursing, colleges of nursing and para medical institutions approved by the state Government had been forwarded to all the Collectors. The list had been posted in the website, www.tnhealth.org. Students could check the website to know about the status of the institution for which they seek admission, Mr. Vinayagam added in the statement.
