As announced in the 2013-14 Railway Budget, the Bangalore – Nagercoil Express service (Train No 17235-17236) should be introduced before Deepavali, the members of Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli Districts Residents’ Association of Bangalore has demanded.
A release from the association’s vice-president Jeyapaul said that many people from South India are employed in IT companies in Bangalore, Hosur and Dharmapuri. There are no separate trains to Bangalore that run through Hosur, Salem and Madurai. In the budget, a train service was announced between Bangalore and Nagercoil that would pass through Hosur, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, and Tirunelveli. In spite of the railways introducing the rest of train services announced in the budget, the Bangalore – Nagercoil Express service was yet to be introduced.
