Members of seven consumer organisations appealed to the officials of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation to replace worn-out buses with new vehicles immediately.

At an interaction held at the TNSTC Pasumalai Training Centre here, the officials said they would improve the services, consider proposals for setting up new bus stops in extension areas and uncovered stretches, ensure better relations between commuters and the bus crew, etc, said a press release issued here on Saturday.

The members raised queries about the Corporation’s plans to replace old buses, which were plying on suburban and mofussil routes. Many buses had crossed its fitness stage and swift replacement with new ones would not only benefit the commuters, but also give an improved mileage and performance for the financially ailing Corporation.
