: The Kanyakumari Jilla Consumer Protection Centre (KJCPC) urged the district administration to remove encroachments on poramboke land on the road from Hindu College to Chettikulam and from canal side encroachments near a private hospital to Sarakkalvilai.

A resolution to this effect was unanimously passed at the monthly executive committee meeting held here recently.

The KJCPC wanted railway authorities to relay the road from Kottar junction to railway station and to set up a railway station at Paravathipuram.

The forum urged Collector S. Nagarajan to stop collection of “exorbitant” ticket fare for old government buses. It demanded the district administration to take action against private minibus operators who collect excess fare than the fixed one from passengers in the district.

President of KJCPC K. Thomas, executive committee member C. Velayudhan Nair, general secretary A.P. Sundar Rajan and other office-bearers attended the meeting.
