: The Kanyakumari Christian Forum has urged the Railway Minister to operate air-conditioned train daily from Kanyakumari to Chennai to clear rush during festival days.

According to Sam Manohar, general secretary, the two trains daily — Kanyakumari Express and Ananthapuri Express — have a good patronage all through the year. Even the special trains run by the railways all through the year between Nagercoil and Chennai accommodate a good rush.

“Passengers face hardship to get tickets in these trains. It should be noted that the Chennai-Nagercoil section is the top revenue-generating section of the Southern Railway,” he claimed.

“As for Nagercoil, at present, there is only one train daily each from Kanyakumari (12634) and Thiruvananthapuram (16724) to Chennai. These two trains are always crowded. People are put to hardship due to non-availability of seats.”
