: An appeal has been made to officials to expedite works and complete the projects in time by N. Chinnadurai, President, District Planning Committee, at a review meeting here on Thursday.
Tanks in Peikulam, Pettaikulam and Korampallam will be upgraded to store enough capacity of water. Estimate preparation is on to execute the works at a cost of Rs. 20.07 crore.
While reviewing the progress of works concerning Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board, he said construction works were under way to raise 16 check dams at an estimated cost of Rs.84.72 lakh. As for road infrastructure, works would be taken up for 20 km.
The Highways Department would execute the task under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Project.
Fourteen road works would be taken up in Tiruchendur, Srivaikuntam, Ottapidaram, Vilathikulam and Kovilpatti. A causeway would be formed between Vilathikulam and Perunali road. Progress of development works through other departments, including Public Works, Public Health, Agriculture, TANGEDCO, Forest, Fisheries, Social Welfare and TAHDCO, was also reviewed.
