Cadres across party lines protest against power cuts

The activists of various political parties staged demonstrations in different parts of the district on Monday to urge the Government to take immediate steps to put an end to the power cut as it affected people from all walks of life.

The cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi staged demonstration in front of the Collectorate to urge the Government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the district.

The State vice-general secretary of PMK, Hariharan, led the agitation.

Similarly the members of Congress party held demonstration in front of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution office at Eraniel to protest against the un-announced power cuts during the night and early hours, which affected the education of the school students, who were preparing for their annual examinations.

The MLA of Colachel Assembly segment, J.G.Prince, led the agitation.

Moreover the activists of Communist Party of India (Marxist) conducted novel agitation in five places including Thiruvattar, Swamiyarmadam, Manakkavilai, Thiruvarampu and Attoor on Sunday night by holding ‘Theevatti' (torch) to urge the Government to take immediate steps to put an end to load shedding through out the State.

The activists of the Makkal Munnetta Kazagham also held demonstration in front of the Ambedkar statue at Vadaserry on Monday to protest against the unannounced power cut in practice in the district.

The district secretary, Rajeswaran led the agitation.
