CHENNAI: The charred body of a businessman was found in a car that went up in flames at Porur here early on Wednesday.
According to police sources, passers-by alerted the police control room that a car had caught fire on the Porur bypass road at 2.40 a.m. Even before police reached the spot, the vehicle was fully gutted. After putting off the fire with the help of fire service personnel, police forced-opened the doors and found Rajendra Kumar (44) of Vepery, a businessman, charred to death.
The body was shifted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. Ruling out the possibility of any sabotage, Inspector of Police (Porur) C. Durairaj said post-mortem findings had confirmed that the death was caused due to fire. The exact cause of fire is under investigation. Forensic experts investigated the scene, the sources added.
