Burglars have decamped with cash and valuables from five textile shops located near the clock tower in the bazaar area of the town on Wednesday night.

The police said that the burglars broke open the locks on the shutters to gain entry into the shops and had stolen more than Rs. 20,000, saris, and other cloths.

They damaged the surveillance camera of a shop before gaining entry into it. A camera installed in another shop has recorded the images of the thieves.

Forensic experts lifted finger prints from the scene of crime.
