In identical house-breaking incidents that occurred at Ulundurpet and Tindivanam on Thursday night, unidentified persons snatched away chains weighing 19 sovereigns from four women who were asleep.

A.Vaithegi (43), an employee of the Department of Posts, lost a chain weighing eight sovereigns to unidentified persons who barged into her house at Ajees Nagar in Ulundurpet. The woman’s husband Arulanantham was not at home. The burglars broke open the front door and decamped with the jwellery.

G. Ramamani (45) lost her five-sovereign chain to burglars at her house in R.R. Kuppam.

At Padhiri, K. Vijayalakshmi and her daughter Jeevitha lost their chains weighing five sovereigns and one sovereign respectively to burglars. The women woke up when one of the burglars accidentally stepped on their arms.

Police have registered cases.
