Tuticorin: The new Y.M.C.A. Boys’ Home building constructed at a cost of Rs.15 lakh on Beach Road here was inaugurated by Collector G. Prakash recently.

The building consists of separate study room and a spacious library with computer facilities.

Mr. Prakash lauded the yeomen services rendered by the YMCA to the poor and in the rehabilitation of tsunami victims in Kanyakumari district.

He appealed to the YMCA to utilise the Namakku Naame Thittam to serve the underprivileged in the district.

Totally, 28 boys were staying in the home at present. Out of the total strength, three boys were pursuing B.E courses and five were studying Plus Two level.

The programme was presided over by Sunil Prakash, Regional Chairman, YMCAs of Southern Region. P.V. Poulose, president of the sponsoring organisation of the Boy’s Home was the guest of honour.

D. Durairaj, president, YMCA, Tuticorin, Michael Motha and Victor Thangadurai, vice-presidents; K. Barnabas. treasurer; Suresh Mathew, Building Committee Chairman and J. Devaraj, General Secretary and Paul Rajiah, board member and coordinator of the programme were present.
