A team of officials from the Town Planning wing of the Coimbatore Corporation on Tuesday demolished a portion of a building on Kalingarayan Street, Ramanagar

which violated the Corporation's norms. Sources said the team found that the owner of the lodge had constructed around 20,000 sq.ft. though he was permitted to build only 7,500 sq.ft.

They said that the owner had raised structures on the set back area, which refers to the space that has to be mandatorily left open around a building.
