Coimbatore: State secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party K. Ramasubramanian has asked the State Government to take steps to install the statue of Dr. B.R. Amedkar near the Sessions Court complex in the city before Amebdkar Jayanthi which falls on April 14.

In a statement here, Mr. Ramasubramanian said a statue of Amebdkar existed only on Food Corporation of India premises which is not accessible to the public. It is unfortunate that there is no other statue at any prominent place in Coimbatore city.

The role played by Dr. Ambedkar as the architect of Constitution, Law Minister, freedom fighter and social reformer was emulative, he said.
