VELLORE: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has introduced two new rural broadband plans, Rural USO 99 and Rural USO 150, to provide broadband facility in rural areas of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts under the Universal Service Obligation (USO)-subsidised tariff package.

According to a release, both the plans would have a maximum speed of up to 2 mbps. The broadband connection would be provided for the Rural USO 99 plan (for Rs.99) and Rural 150 plan (for Rs.150) with downloading limits of 400 mb and 1 GB respectively. Modem, security deposit, registration charges and installation charges would be free.

Broadband was currently available on demand in telephone exchange areas of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts. Customers could contact Customer Service Centre or call 1550 for availing themselves of the facility. Two Tamil Nadu Ananth SIM cards were issued for Rs.50 by the BSNL authorised franchisees and retailers up to March 30.
