On March 2 and 3 at 49 locations in Tuticorin district
Tuticorin: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited of Tuticorin will conduct a mega mela on on March 2 and 3 in 49 locations in the district, including Tiruchendur, Srivaikundam, Kovilpatti and Vilathikulam.
The lifetime prepaid SIM card will be sold for Rs.30 and the installation charges of Rs. 500 for the landline and Wireless in local Loop (WILL) phone connection will be waived off for the customers getting new connections.
A free executive bag will be given to the customers who book a new landline or WIL phone or broadband connection.
All other BSNL services will also be offered during the mela, according to N.R. Natarajan, General Manager, BSNL.
In a press release issued here on Friday, he said a free insurance scheme introduced for the landline, WILL phone, mobile postpaid and landline WILL PCO customers would be extended for one more year.
To provide seamless coverage to the BSNL mobile customers, 38 new cell towers were erected in the district for the current financial year. Most of the cell towers were erected in Tuticorin, Nazareth, Kovilpatti, Srivaikundam and Sathankulam exchange areas.
He said 46 more cell towers would be erected in the next financial year in the district.
The capacity of Tiruchendur, Christianagaram, Srivaikundam and Kovilpatti exchanges was also augmented.
Broadband connections would be given immediately on demand after the registration in all 64 exchanges in the district.
The ground works for the latest 3G services for the provision of facilities like video conferencing / call, mobile television, 2mbps high speed internet, video on demand, high speed video streaming are under way in Tuticorin city.
The 3G mobile customers could avail themselves of all facilities by the end of 2009, he added.
