TIRUNELVELI: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has slashed the charges fixed for its landline and Wireless in Local Loop (WiLL) connections with effect from May 1.

An official statement said as per the new plans, urban customers who are paying Rs.180 and Rs.120 as monthly fixed charges at present, can opt for Annual Plan Rs.1,200. In this plan, the customers have to pay just Rs.1,200 only towards annual fixed charges. No monthly or bimonthly fixed charges will be collected in the bill. The usual free calls of 50 per month can also be availed.

Hence, the effective monthly fixed charges will be around Rs.100 with 50 free calls. For every additional call beyond the ‘free calls’, one rupee will be charged per unit. Customers can also avail valid 2160 plan by paying just Rs.2,160 and avail the above facilities for two years.

Rural area customers who are paying Rs.150 and Rs.110 as monthly charges at present can avail Annual Plan 600. The customers opting for this plan will have to pay Rs.600 as advance annual rent. Free calls will be 30 per month. For every additional call beyond free calls, 80 paise will be charged per unit.

New One India annual plans

Similar to these plans, new One India annual plans with annual rental of Rs.1,800 and Rs.1,000 have been introduced for Urban and Rural One India customers respectively.

As per these new One India annual plans, the urban customers have to pay Rs.1,800 and rural customers Rs.1,000. The urban and rural customers can avail 50 and 30 calls respectively.

All the calls beyond free calls will be charged at the rate of Re.1 per unit with 60 seconds pulse rate beyond 50 Km and throughout India, the statement said.
