This will connect Akkarai Kodivery
ERODE: The State Highways Department has given its nod for the construction of a bridge across River Bhavani connecting Akkarai Kodivery at a cost of Rs. 3 crore, according to the
Union Minister of State for Textiles, E.V.K. Elangovan.
Speaking to reporters at Gobichettipalayam on Tuesday, he said the work on the bridge would commence soon.
The Minister said that Kodivery would be made a tourist spot at a cost of Rs. 35 lakhs.
He said the Railway authorities have renewed their request with the Government to conduct a survey in Thalawady forest area for the formation of a railway line connecting Samrajnagar and Sathyamangalam.
He said the foundation for the same has been laid in 2004 and for want of permission from the earlier AIADMK Government the survey work was delayed. He hoped that the present Government would grant the permission soon.
Mr. Elangovan said that Sathyamangalam-Bhavani Road via Athani and Appakudal has been made National Highway and development works on this highway would be taken soon.
