Nearly 500 artistes to take part in the seven-day festival

THANJAVUR: Brahan Natyanjali, a dance obeisance to Lord Brigadisvara at Big Temple here in connection with Mahasivarathiri festival, will begin from March 13 at the Big Temple. Dr.V.Varadarajan, president of Brahan Natyanjali Foundation, and S.Muthukumar, secretary, said on Thursday that nearly 500 artistes would take part in the seven-day festival which will go on till March 19. Artistes from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Kochi, Pune, Goa, Assam, Manipur and Gujarat will take part.

They include C.V.Chandrasekar, Anitha Rathinam, Padma Subramaniam, Jayalakshmi Easwar, Meenakshi Chitharanjan, Anitha Guha, Sharmila Mukherjee, Jayasri Ragagopalan and Mallika Sarabai. Artistes from Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Dubai and France will also perform. The festival is organised with the support of South Zone Cultural Centre, Sangeetha Nataka Academy and Tourism Department.
