Brahan Natyanjali, a dance obeisance to Lord Brihadishvara at Big Temple here will be held from March 10 to 16.
V. Varadarajan, president, Brahan Natyanjali Foundation and S. Muthukumar, secretary of the foundation, told presspersons here on Thursday that 51 troupes with 600 artistes would perform in the Natyanjali.
The variety includes Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, and Kathakali. Artistes from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Pune, and Raipur take part in the festival. Dancers come from foreign countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, the U.S., Dubai, and France.
Actor Shobana, Sridevi Rajan, Anitha Guha, Padmini Radhakrishnan, Meenakshi Chitharanjan, Santhanu Chakkaravarthy, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Sheela Unnikrishnan, and actor Swarnamalya are some of the artistes who will perform in Brahan Natyanjali. Brahan Natyanjali is organised in connection with Mahasivarathiri festival.
Special dance programmes will be performed by troupes from Chennai Kalakshetra, Trichy Kalai Kaveri, Chennai Mithras, Bangalore Rhythm Motion and Malaysia Vichuriyam arts.
