ERODE: Erode book festival will begin on July 31 and end on August 11. Sharing the details with the media in Erode on Tuesday, organiser T. Stalin Gunasekaran said Chandrayaan Project Director Mylswami Annadurai would inaugurate the event.

On the concluding day, former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had promised to participate.

The exhibition would have 164 stalls, eight more than last year, the organiser said and added that they had invited only publishers and sellers of repute.

One-third of the stalls would sell English books and the rest Tamil.

As part of the function, they had also roped in speakers for talks, he said.

Mr. Gunasekaran also said that the organisers had organised stalls to sell works of authors from the Tamil diaspora.

He hoped that the 2009 exhibition would surpass the previous years Rs. 4 crore sales.
