The 17{+t}{+h}National Book Fair will be inaugurated on Friday at 5.30 p.m. at the Vel Sokkanathan Thirumana Mandapam on Vallalar Street. The book fair will take place until December 29.

The book fare will feature over 1,00,000 books in Tamil, English, French, Hindi and other languages.

There will be a special discount for educational institutions. People who buy books worth over Rs. 200 will be eligible for a lucky draw, which will take place everyday, a release said.

People or institutions who purchase books for over Rs. 50,000 will receive the title of ‘Puthaga Maharaja’, those who buy books for over Rs. 10,000 will be given the title of ‘Puthaga Raja’ and those who buy books for more than Rs. 1000 will receive a certificate with the title of ‘Puthaga Virumbi.’

Among the new books that will be featured at the fair are ‘Discovering Statehood for Puducherry’ by Professor M. Ramadass in English and Tamil, Globalisation and Social Security Laws in India by S. Srinivasan.

The book fair will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and is organised by the Puducherry Co-op Book Society, and further details are available
