KRISHNAGIRI: Forty-six bogus ration cards were seized from the salesman of a public distribution system outlet during inspection on Saturday.

It was also found that Munikrishnan, salesman of a ration shop at Thempatti village in Kelamangalam Panchayat Union, had swindled Rs. 5,16,179 from the shop, run by a cooperative institution, by producing bogus bills. He was suspended immediately and departmental enquiry was recommended by the Revenue Department officials.

A. Shanmugasundaram, District Revenue Officer, told ‘The Hindu’ that the raids on PDS shops which began last fortnight had given good results. So far, seven salesmen were suspended for malpractices.

The special team official included Kumarapandian, Special Officer of a Cooperative Society and Nagaraj, Taluk Supply Officer (in charge), Denkanikottai.
