CHENNAI: The body of an autorickshaw driver, Chelladurai, who had died April-end, was exhumed on Saturday.

This followed a police complaint by his wife, Saritha, who said on the day of his death, Chelladurai complained of backache and approached a private hospital. The doctor administered him an injection. When he returned home, the pain became acute and he collapsed.

He was rushed to Government Stanley Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The body was buried in Mullaima Nagar crematorium in Maha Kavi Barathi Nagar, next day. However, a couple of days later, his relatives suspected that Chelladurai had died of medical negligence. On Saturday, the body was exhumed and sent to Government Stanley Hospital for autopsy.
