The bodies of three members of a Malaysian family, reported missing since Monday, were found wrapped in white dhotis and dumped along the Madurai-Dindigul national highway near Vadipatti on Thursday. The family was staying at Bharati Nagar in Ramanathapuram.

Workers undertaking maintenance of four-lane highway spotted the bodies around 8 a.m. and alerted the police.

While the body of M. Adhila Banu (24) was found near a small culvert at T. Andipatti, the bodies of her children – Mohammed Aslam Kani (7) and Ajira Banu (5) – were noticed in another culvert near Viralipatti junction.

The bodies were identified by Adhila Banu's mother.

Madurai Superintendent of Police M. Manohar, who inspected the site, said there were no visible injuries on the bodies. The bodies have been brought to the Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem.
