City Police are planning to deploy over 1,000 police personnel, and re-activate and strengthen check posts, besides organising vehicle checks and lodge checks in view of the 14th anniversary of the Coimbatore serial blasts.

Serial blasts that rocked the city on February 14, 1998 resulted in loss of 58 lives and left hundreds of people injured besides loss to properties. Police said requests from outfits to organise demonstrations for paying homage have been rejected in order to ensure maintenance of law and order.
