The Bharatiya Janata Party will secure at least 20 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, according to its State unit president Pon Radhakrishnan.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said that the party had fared well whenever it contested alone. Just as it did well in 1996, this time too the Tamil Nadu unit was confident of a good showing. The vote share of the party was increasing and it would soon be a force to reckon with in the State.

Asked what stand the BJP would take in the event of a hung Assembly, he said it would take an appropriate decision when such a situation arose.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the DMK would not be in a position to form the next government as a strong anti-incumbency factor would have had an impact on voting. The party that formed the next government must avoid all the mistakes of the present one.
