The Bharatiya Janata Party is keen on forging an alliance with like-minded parties to face the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. It would be a strong alliance in the State and definitely win a majority of seats, according to the party’s State president Pon. Radhakrishnan.

He told press-persons at Marthandam on Sunday that the general secretary of MDMK, Vaiko, and the president of India Jananayaka Katchi T.R. Pachamuthu had already met national level leaders of the BJP to form an alliance with the party.

Moreover, discussions were also going on with the leaders of the Pattali Makkal Katchi.

The BJP would be happy, if the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam would also join the BJP and its allies in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, he said.

He said that the Centre had failed to ensure the welfare and safety of fishermen in the coastal areas of the State when they ventured into sea for fishing.

Either the arrest of fishermen or attack on them by the Sri Lankan Navy was the order of the day, he said.

Later, he delivered a special address in the district executive committee meeting held at Marthandam.

In the meeting, the party has urged the Government to re-lay the damaged roads or carry out maintenance works across the district on a war footing for the benefit of people as well as motorists.

The district president, Dharmaraj, senior leader, M.R. Gandhi, district general secretaries, Chokkalingam, Kumari Ramesh, Rajasekar and others attended the meeting.
