Cadres stage road blockade in Tuticorin

Tuticorin: A total of 60 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were arrested when they staged a road blockade here on Thursday.

They protested the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to cancel the order of transfer of 39.88 hectares of forest land to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

Terming the earlier order to transfer the land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board as “legitimate”, the members blamed it on the Congress for the imbroglio.

S.R. Saravanaperumal, state secretary, M R Kanagaraj, district observer, S P S Subbaiah, district president, Santana Kumar and M Balaji, district general secretaries, were some of the prominent leaders who had courted arrest.
