Biomedical waste dumped

The Kurichi-Vellalore Pollution Prevention Action Committee has found around 200 bags filled with syringes, needles and cotton containing blood dumped at compost yard at Vellalore again.

“We noticed these bags and immediately alerted the officials of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) and asked them to investigate it. We were initially hesitant to approach them as the waste could be infectious and pose a health hazard,” K.S. Mohan, secretary of the committee, said.
