Developed under digitisation process of enterprise procurement system
An e-procurement portal of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was launched by A.V.Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi, here on Wednesday.
The portal was developed under the digitisation process of the enterprise procurement system (EPS) of the public-sector major.
As part of the strategy, BHEL has decided to ‘Go Live' with six of its plants located at Tiruchi, Bangalore, Ranipet, Noida and Haridwar by end of this year. The first phase of the conversion is to be carried out at BHEL, Tiruchi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Krishnan said e-procurement was the need of the hour, paving the way for paperless and prompt procurement which would help in cycle time reduction.
The portal, he said, would revolutionise the procurement process and bring transparency in business operations.
BHEL, Tiruchi, had formed a special task force for implementing the project which was unique in nature, given the diverse products procured by BHEL.
EPS is now considered an integral component of smart procurement strategies which reduce complexities and transactional load requirements.
The potential of smart procurement solutions, implementation of modules of e-procurement such as e-tendering, e-auctions and contract management are on rise.
