Awarded for significant achievements in Total Quality Management

TIRUCHI: The BHEL, Tiruchi, has won the country's prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)- EXIM Bank Commendation Certificate for its "significant achievements in Total Quality Management for 2006."

This is the seventh time that BHEL, Tiruchi has won this award.

Based on the application from the BHEL, Tiruchi, a team of professionals visited the High Pressure Boiler Plant and the Seamless Steel Tube Plant of BHEL, Tiruchi and based on their assessment, the unit has been recommended for the commendation, a press release of the BHEL issued here on Friday said.

The CII-EXIM commendation certificate is given to organisations either for significant achievement in their journey towards business excellence or for strong commitment to TQM (score 400 plus).

The BHEL, Tiruchi, has secured a score in the band of 500-600 points this year.

The Minister for Industries, Karnataka, Subramanya Naidu, presented the award to BHEL, Tiruchi, at the inaugural session of the 14th Quality Summit organised by the CII in Bangalore recently.

The General Manager, Valves, V. Ananthakrishnan, and the General Manager, Advanced Technology Products, M. Kannappan, received the award. Along with Tiruchi unit, BHEL's Hyderabad and Bhopal units won the Commendation Certificate for `Significant Achievements towards TQM'.

The BHEL's Electronics Division at Bangalore has won the certificate for `strong commitment to TQM'.
