Latest clinical equipment displayed

TIRUCHI: An exhibition of latest clinical equipment, displayed on the sidelines of the annual conference of the Association of Surgeons of India-Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry chapter, provided an opportunity to the surgeons to know the latest developments in the industry.

"Our equipment provide a new dimension to patient monitoring," says the Senior Executive Marketing from Silicon Labs, Chennai, A. Sivaprasad, who brought indigenous and low-cost equipment.

"The multi-parameter monitor is one of the latest additions which costs far less than the imported ones," he says. Software-based calculation, memory storage, high resolution display are some of its advantages. The doctors can easily operate this simple and reliable equipment, he says.

There were also some equipment from China. "We cater to the needs of doctors in semi-urban areas," says the Director, Genuine Medica, New Delhi, Ashwini Arora.

The `skin stapler,' made in Germany and marketed by Grandix Pharmaceutical Limited, Chennai, is used for closing a wound after a surgery. "It leaves no scar on the patient's skin," says the Assistant Manager (Marketing), R. Jeevan Prakash.
