: The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday restrained Kallar Kalvi Kazhagam, a registered society that runs Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Arts and Science College at Usilampatti near here, from filling up vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff.

Justice K.K. Sasidharan granted the interim injunction pursuant to a writ petition filed by P.V. Kathiravan, sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly and former secretary of the society, accusing the incumbent secretary of having indulged in large scale malpractices.

Filing the case through his counsel Veera Kathiravan, the petitioner alleged that the present set of office bearers were trying to fill up existing vacancies before the expiry of the their term on May 14 and that such appointments were being made for extraneous considerations.
