CHENNAI: Graduates of SASTRA University's B.Ed. distance education programme held a protest here on Wednesday, seeking inclusion of their additional qualification in the government's service registers.

R. Saravanan and two others had filed a case demanding inclusion of their B.Ed. qualification in the service registers. The Madras High Court in March had directed the Director of Elementary Education and officials in the department to include their qualification in the registers.

But, Mr. Saravanan and P.S. Ramanan, two of the litigants, said the orders had not been complied with. They said the district elementary education authorities had not replied to their request.

K. Devarajan, Director of Elementary Education, however, said that the additional qualifications had been added to the service registers of the three litigants and the court's orders followed. On the issue of other students with the same qualifications also asking for the relief, he said due process would be followed. Orders from the government were awaited.
