: A licensed bar, which was allegedly operating, was raided by the city police on Sunday. Following information, Inspector General and Commissioner of Police P. Kannappan directed the police to search the premises on the West Perumal Maistry Street. The team found that the bar, attached to a hotel, was open. After inquiries, they seized about 200 liquor bottles meant for sale and arrested two persons. Further investigation is on.

Collector U. Sagayam has warned of stern action against violators and urged them to keep their bars closed until October 19 and on October 21, the day of counting.
