1,000 students participate in the rally
Over 1,000 students and NSS and NGO volunteers took part in an awareness rally on eradication of drugs and spurious liquor in Krishnagiri Town on Thursday.
District Collector C.N. Maheshwaran flagged off the rally near new bus stand in the town in the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police S.R. Senthil Kumar and other officials.
The officials, including the Collector, led the rally via Old Bengaluru Road, Taluk Office and ended at Five Road junction.
The rallyists held placards that carried messages of creating awareness on drugs and spurious liquor and also raised slogans against the evil effects.
They also distributed pamphlets during the rally. Later, elocution, essay, drawing competitions were held for the students at the Cambridge Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the town.
The Adhiyamaan Cultural Troupe staged an awareness programmes in the bus stands at Pazhayapet, Kittampatti, Bargur, Bethathalapalli, Uthangarai and Mathur.
Ms. Kasturi, Assistant Commissioner of Excise, Divisional Excise Officers, V. Lakshminarayanan (Hosur) and V. Mani (Krishnagiri), and other officials participated in the rally.
