Awareness programme on voting rights launched

A 14-day intensive awareness programme on voting rights was launched at Varattanapalli in Bargur constituency here on Thursday.

The district administration received 2,000 multi-colour posters and 40 CDs of documentaries on voting, produced by the Election Commission of India. The programme was chalked out to create awareness on voting rights and also enhance voters' turnout.

Documentaries

The Department of Information and Public Relations, Field Publicity, Cooperative, and Agriculture departments will be involved in screening the documentaries in which leading actors have asked the voters to exercise their franchise without fail.

Publicity vehicles will be deployed in different parts of the district to screen the documentaries.

Posters and banners will also be used during the campaign. District Election Officer and Collector V. Arun Roy released the CDs and posters.
