To mark International Women’s Day
: The Madurai district administration organised an awareness camp for adolescent girl students at Lady Doak College and a health camp for women at the collector’s office here on Thursday to mark International Women’s Day celebrations.
As many as 800 girl students studying from VII and VIII standard in various corporation schools and a few government aided schools attended the awareness camp for adolescent girls, where experts from Adolescent Students Health Alternative (ASHA), a non governmental organisation from Bangalore held an interactive session.
The camp will be held on Friday as well and is expected to reach out to at least a 1000 more students from corporation schools. Additional collector Arunsundar Dayalan, deputy commissioner of Madurai Corporation K. Sambhavi and district social welfare officer R. Ananthavalli inaugurated the camp. The check-up inaugurated by Collector Anshul Mishra had doctors from Government Rajaji Hospital examining the health of the women and counselling them.
