Tuticorin: Sterlite Industries, Tuticorin, has bagged the national-level Best Performing Organisation Award-2006. It was instituted by the Indian Institute of Metal to non-ferrous metal units, which excelled in productivity, quality and product development.

The criteria stipulated that non-ferrous units, which were engaged in manufacture/fabrication of aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, magnesium, tin, silver and their alloys, could compete for the award.

At a function held at Jamshedpur on November 14, Thirunavakkarasu, senior vice-president, and Kiran Shetty, associate general manager, received the award on behalf of the company from the Union Minister of State for Steel, Akilesh Das.
