As many as 150 faculty from Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Perundurai, Salem, Erode, and Vellore, including a large number of women, took part in the protest that was held in front of the Red Cross Building, according to AUT General Secretary C. Pichandy.

The association has appealed to the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to order an inquiry into the alleged irregularities.

It has also condemned the move of the Bharathiar University Syndicate in authorising the outgoing Vice-Chancellor C. Swaminthan to form the VC Convenors’ Committee.
