It has been planned to construct a new air-conditioned auditorium with the help of donations from alumni of Thanjavur Medical College on the college campus, said P.Ravishankar, Dean of Thanjavur Medical College, here on Thursday.
He told reporters that alumni of the college would meet on November 14 as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the college to be held from November 13 to November 16.
The matter of constructing an auditorium would be discussed and a decision would be taken.
If possible, a foundation stone for the structure would be laid on that day, Ravishankar said.
Nearly 700 alumni of the college of whom 400 from abroad would assemble on November 14.
The Medical Council of India has given permission to admit four students for Master of Child Health (MCH) and four students in M.D. paediatrics.
One hundred and fifty students are admitted to MBBS course every year of which 123 are from state quota and others from all India quota.
The golden jubilee celebrations would start with Thamizh Vizha on November 13. Present meritorious students would be honoured on November 15 and the valedictory function would be held on November 16.
