TIRUCHI: The month-long summer athletics coaching camp organised by the Southern Railway Sports Association (SRSA) and P.V. Ravanan Athletic Academy came to a close at the Kallukuzhi Railway Stadium here recently.
The chief coach at the camp and former international triple jumper, K.S. Mohammed Nizamuddin said that about 200 youngsters underwent training at the camp that was conducted with the purpose of identifying talent. “Some 40 young athletes with the potential to make it big have been identified. We will focus on them and provide regular training. Their parents’ response has been good,” he says. Divisional Railway Manager and SRSA president S. Subramhanyan said that sports taught discipline and importance of teamwork . “Life is full of ups and downs. Sports help you learn ways to handle pressure and failure,” he said. Mr. Subramhanyan gave away certificates to the participants in the presence of Senior Divisional Engineer S. Ashok Kumar and former international athlete Mujitha Nizamuddin.
