Athletes put their best foot forward at meet

Students of Anna University, BIT Campus, put up a spirited show at Anna University (Chennai) inter-zonal ‘Paralympics’ athletics meet held recently.

They bagged a total of 13 medals at the meet at College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai.

Six win medals

Of the 13 students who represented Anna University, BIT Campus, six won medals. “Our students took part in the meet for the first time and we are happy they have returned with a rich haul,” said M. Gopinath, Deputy Director of Physical Education. M.Muthukalvan won gold in long jump, silver in shotput and bronze in javelin throw. M.Kesavamoorthy won gold in 50-metre race and silver in triple jump.

N.Vignesh bagged bronze medals in 50-metre and 100-metre race and long jump.

R.Vignesh clinched silver in javelin throw and bronze in shotput, while R.Vino bagged bronze medals in javelin and shotput. R.Selvaraj secured silver medal in shotput.

Reward for hard work

“The good performance at the meet was a reward for their hard work and dedication,” Mr.Gopinath said.

S.Muttan, Regional Director, and R.Krishnamoorthy, Dean, felicitated the students and their coach A. Murugan.
