Collector Jayashree Muralidharan distributed hearing aids to 14 children at the weekly public grievances redressal day meeting held at the Collectorate here on Monday.

The hearing aids, worth Rs. 2.24 lakh, were given through the Public Health Department to the children pursuing studies at the training centre run by the Differently Abled Welfare Department.

The Collector also gave away cheques totalling Rs. 15,000 to three differently abled persons from the Collector's Discretionary Fund on the occasion.

Appointment orders

The Collector gave away appointment orders to 48 candidates who had been selected in the first phase for the post of Village Administrative Officer in the district.

She received a total number of 402 petitions from the general public and forwarded them to the officials of the department concerned for initiating appropriate action, an official press release here said.
