Assistance to the tune of Rs. 87.48 lakhs were distributed 572 beneficiaries at the special mass contact programme held in Kottapalayam village in Thuraiyur block recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raman said that such programmes were aimed at solving the grievances of the people instantly.

The opportunity is also utilised by the officials to inform the people on the implementation of various government welfare schemes and the steps to be taken to enjoy the benefits of the same.

He urged the people take advantage of such programmes.

The government departments had put up stalls explaining the programmes being implemented by them in the mini-exhibition brought up in connection with the mass contact programme. Mr. Raman declared open the exhibition. The animal husbandry department conducted a free veterinary camp on the occasion.

The Collector in-charge distributed assistance under social protection, accident compensation, destitute women assistance, differently abled welfare, old age pension, Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Welfare schemes etc.

He also handed over new ration cards to 92 villagers, house site pattas to 11 persons and agricultural inputs to 15 more.
