Students end fast

Students of Government Arts College for Men, who went on an indefinite fast urging the Centre to support the U.S.-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka, called it off at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday after hectic parleys by the police and revenue officials with them.

S. Maheshwaran, tahsildhar, told The Hindu that a team of police officers headed by

Deputy Superintendent

of Police M. Santhanapandian and revenue officials held talks with the students in the presence of parents, professors and Heads of the Departments and the principal after which they ended their fast.
