CHENNAI: Orissa Arts and Crafts, an organisation made up of rural artisans from Orissa, will conduct an exhibition called ‘Orissa Arts and Crafts Fair’ at the Guild of Services, Casa Major Road, Egmore, from August 23 to September 2.

A press release said the organisation was dedicated to the cause of promoting and preserving traditional arts and crafts of the region at a time when the traditional expertise of artisans is being threatened. It also aims to bring international attention upon the creations of the region.

The fair will exhibit items including the Pata Chitra, or folk paintings, stone carvings, sarees unique to Orissa, typically known as Ikkat, and palm leaf engravings.
