At the 25th Madurai Kamaraj University Youth Festival

MADURAI: Colleges from Virudhunagar district walked away with top honours at the 25th Madurai Kamaraj University Youth Festival conducted at Nadar Mahajana Sangam Sermathai Vasan College for Women here.

The festival, which had the theme ‘India, a developed nation by 2020 through youth power,' had teams from 20 colleges in Madurai, Virudhunagar, Dindigul and Theni districts competing in several cultural events.

Prizes to the winners were given away by the Vice-Chancellor, R. Karpaga Kumaravel, at the valedictory function held on March 26.

The Director, Department of Youth Welfare, P. Chelladurai, presented a report of the festival at the concluding session. S. Gousalya, Principal, welcomed the gathering.

S. Pariparameswaran proposed a vote of thanks.

Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi, was the overall winner of the festival, followed by V. V. Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar.

The championship for women went to V. V. V. College for Women with Lady Doak College, Madurai, coming second.

The men's championship was bagged by Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College. The following were winners of their respective zones: Lady Doak College (A Zone); Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College (B Zone); Kodaikanal Christian College, Kodaikanal (C Zone).
