St. Joseph’s College wins the overall performance shield
THANJAVUR: The annual Pushpamala cultural festival organised by the Fine Arts Association of A. V. V. M. Sri Pushpam College, Poondi near here, evoked good response.
Over 500 students from 40 and odd college and six universities participated in the various competitions and displayed their talents.
The students took active participation in events such as instrumental percussion, non-percussion, light music, vocal solo, light music group, Carnatic music, classical, folk, oriental, western dance, drama (skit), mimicry and fancy dress.
The St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchi, won the overall performance shield.
The skit entitled ‘Election Ekambaram’ written by K.Thulasiah Vandayar, secretary and correspondent of the college, was staged by the students of the host college.
Mr. Vandayar said that cultural programmes purified the body and mind. He commended the performance of the students in various competitions.
TV artistes Erode Mahesh and Thanjai Raghav Mahesh entertained the audience by their histrionics and valedictory function. N. Rajendran, Dean of Arts, S. Mani, Controller of Examinations, S.Thyagaraja Sharma, former Professor of English, and Shivaji Kabilan, Vice-president of the Fine Arts Association, offered felicitations.
