TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu zone of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will conduct its two-day state conference at Nedungoor near here on January 30 and 31.

Eminent Islamic scholars, jurists, social scientists and activists and community leaders from across the country and also from Sri Lanka would address this first-ever State meet, I. Karimullah, chief organiser of the conference told presspersons here on Saturday. Jalaluddin Umari, all India president of the Jamaat, would inaugurate the conference.

At present the world after experimenting many ideologies and tasting its bitter fruits is yearning for a new alternative, a new model and a new order to enjoy peace and tranquillity in life. Imperialism and terrorism have ruined the entire world. Social inequality, economic inequality and moral degradation have shattered the peaceful co-existence of human beings.

This conference would convince that Islam presents a complete panacea to all the ills confronting this world and suggest how the system of life ordained by it if established in individual and collective life would bring total peace in personal, social, economic and political life of individuals and the society.

This conference would give a clarion call to Muslims to realise and reflect on their role and remind them to perform and fulfil their great responsibility of establishing peace and justice in the society.

The Jamaat has extended invitation to all the Muslim outfits in the state, including Indian Union Muslim League, TMMK, Indian National League, to take part in the special session of the conference on ‘problems and challenges of Muslims’ scheduled on the inaugural day. Their response is encouraging, Mr. Karimullah said. Special sessions like how Islam is opposed to terrorism, imperialism, etc., would form part of the second day’s meet.

Intellectuals and leaders representing difference organisations would express their views during a session on ‘India of our dreams’.

An exhibition with informative panels and models to inform and educate the people of the great contribution made by Islam and Muslims to the human civilisation would be the highlight of the conference, Mr. Karimullah added.
